 FAA Certifies Williams FJ44-1AP Turbofan

Williams International President Greg Williams says the FAA has issued a formal type certificate for the FJ44-1AP Turbofan that is to be used on the Cessna CJ1+ as the launch platform. The 2,100 pounds takeoff thrust engine boosts thrust at altitude by 12 percent and trims specific fuel consumption at cruise by 5% compared with the previous FJ44-1 model with 1,900 pounds thrust. A lower idle speed will allow Cessna to eliminate thrust attenuators used on the CJ1. The engine is lighter, has less system complexity and uses a new Williams dual-channel full-authority digital engine control (FADEC).
