A400M Rear Fuselage Assembly to Begin Soon

Assembly of rear fuselages for the A400M will begin later this summer at EADS Military Aircraft-Augsburg, which last month opened a $1.2 million office block that will free up an additional 8,600 square feet for the production facilities. “We are expanding further and investing in order to hold Augsburg aircraft construction on a constantly successful course in the future,” says plant manager Hans Lonsinger. Augsburg is responsible for the main parts of the rear fuselage and the all-composite cargo door, representing 6.6% of the total A400M airframe. Completed structures will be shipped to Airbus Bremen.
