Ryanair in Huge Winglet Order

Ryanair has purchased 225 sets of Aviation Partners’ Boeing Blended Winglets to outfit the entire fleet of 737-800s it has on order. The Irish airline’s contract is now the largest received by Aviation Partners and could well be expanded if Ryanair takes up the 70 737 options it still holds with Boeing. Retrofits for Ryanair begin immediately, with conversions of new aircraft to follow. Southwest Airlines, another blended winglet customer, has said that the Aviation Partners’ modification saves it between 3% and 4% in fuel burn per aircraft.
