Bombardier seems to have hit a Brazilian nerve when comparing its yet-to-be-launched C-Series airliners with Embraer’s 170/190 family. Embraer’s Luis Carlo Affonso said at a recent press briefing, “I would like to make a comment about our competitor in the northern part of the Americas who have said in the press that they are building four airplanes. I find this very funny. They have two fuselage tubes, a 115-seater and a 135-seater, with two design weights. So on that basis our family of four becomes eight, as we have two different MTOW versions for each of our models.” Mike Vines
