Eurocopter Presents Its Most Modern Products
Eurocopter is using the show to present its most modern products the Tiger combat helicopter and the multi-role NH90 and to commemorate the helicopter that started it all, the pioneering Sud-Est SE.3120 Alouette II. The first turbine-powered helicopter to enter production, the Alouette II made its first flight 50 years ago, in March 1955. Production continued into 1975, and 284 of the type were still in service in 2004.
Flight demonstrations here will feature the Tiger and the NH90, the first production fly-by-wire helicopter, and the AS 350 B3. The company’s static exhibit includes its entire product line, featuring the AS 350 B3 Ecureil/AStar that recently made the first helicopter landing on top of Mount Everest continuing a tradition of performance that started 50 years ago, when the first Alouette II, three months into its test program, set a helicopter altitude record at 26,934 feet.
A different form of height is on show at the adjacent NHIndustries stand, dominated by the new NH90 high-cabin variant for the Swedish armed forces. The 10-inch-higher ceiling provides a more comfortable environment for search-and-rescue and ASW missions.
