Cleared to Land at Charles B. Wheeler

The Kansas City Aviation Department has announced that Runways 1-19 at Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport (MKC) will reopen November 15 following reconstruction of the north 3,300-ft section. This will effectively reopen all runways in time for winter operations. The runway project is part of a $69.6 million improvement program to enhance the facility. Future projects will see a relocation of MKC's fuel farm, new hangars, new runway safety areas and a 400-ft extension to Runways 1-19.
