Lufthansa Technik Has Got Challenger 850 to Complete
The first Bombardier Challenger 850 (an executive version of
the 50-passenger Canadair CRJ200 regional jet) has arrived for VIP completion
at Lufthansa Technik in Hamburg. The arrival marks the German MRO giant's
strategic move into outfitting sub-BBJÐscale business aircraft; it has four
firm orders for VIP Challenger 850s and hopes to do six to seven aircraft a
year under its agreement with Bombardier as the preferred finishing house,
according to Bernhard Conrad, svp for completion center operations. A
production line approach using certificated furniture and equipment for VIP or
a selection of standardized corporate shuttle interiors will allow downtime to
be cut to four to five months per aircraft, Conrad said.
