Pro Line 21 Cockpit Is Selected for New Challenger 605

Bombardier Aerospace has selected the multifunctional Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics package and Airshow 21 cabin electronics system for its new widebody Challenger 605, slated for delivery in mid-2007.

The Pro Line 21 avionics system, which integrates flight information into easy-to-interpret menu formats, includes four 10-in-by-12-in LCD displays; communications, navigation and surveillance (CNS) radios; and the Rockwell Collins Integrated Flight Information Systems. The IFIS component enables the display of electronic charts, optional graphical weather and enhanced map overlays.

Pro Line 21, which is 200 lbs lighter than the equivalent Pro Line 4, is also on the G100, Challenger 300, Raytheon Hawker 800 XPI, Citation Encore Plus, Premiere I and various Citation Jets. Expect more Pro Line 21 announcements during the NBAA Convention.

The Ethernet-based Airshow 21 cabin electronics system features a range of functions— from entertainment and cabin controls to global office connectivity, using a graphical user interface, also designed by Rockwell Collins. The entertainment component of Airshow 21 allows passengers to select multiple sources of media, including DVD/CD players and satellite TV. Further, it enables passengers and crew to manage environmental  systems in the cabin, galley and lavatory.
