Cessna Latest Upgrade is the Citation Encore+

Cessna's Encore is the latest model to come in for an update: an avionics update and dual channel FADECs will create the Encore+, the world's largest volume producer of business jets announced here yesterday.

The Encore+ features a Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 integrated avionics suite with many of the same features as on the CJ1+, CJ2+ and the CJ3 which are, according to Cessna, the most advanced available on this class of business jet.

The extensive avionics fit includes three 8x10-inch primary fight displays, Pro Line 21 communications, TCAS II, EGPWS,  and broadcast geographical weather including NEXRAD, METARs and  terminal aerodrome forecasts. A file server system with cursor control panel, electronic approach plates, enhanced map overlays and a Collins FMS-3000 with aircraft-specific database are also included.

Payload is increased by 200 lbs. to allow a useful load of 6,600 lbs (after allowing for two pilots), and the cabin now has indirect LED lighting. Deliveries will begin in February 2007.

Powerplants will be a slightly upgraded "B" version of the current 3,400-pounds-thrust PW535A engines, fitted with dual channel FADECs to enhance operational efficiency.                     —John Morris
