Gulfstream pilots were presented with National Aeronautic Association certificates for multiple G550 distance records here on Wednesday. Gulfstream director of demonstration and corporate flight operations Roc Miles and G450/550 chief demonstration pilot Bill Watters accepted the certificates on behalf of the flight crews.
The longest flight was a class distance record of 6,558 nmi set by Watters, Ray Wellington, and Ahmed Ragheb on a flight from Gulfstream's base in Savannah to the Dubai air show last December. Then, on December 14, Bob McKenney, Watters, and Wellington flew from Beijing to New York in 13 hours and 45 minutes, setting a speed record of 429 kts for the city pair.
Finally, on May 19, Larry Mueller, Carl Schomburg, and James Lowe flew from West Hampton on Long Island to Beijing in 13 hours and 18 minutes, for an average speed of 446 kts. G550 crews broke 10 other point-to-point records in the past year.
