Transportation Security Administration chief David M. Stone helped open this year's show with a boost for the NBAA's airport access efforts, headlined by the TSA Access Certificate program (TSAAC). "TSA fully supports the TSAAC," Stone said at yesterday's opening ceremonies, "and part of my being here today is to signal that commitment." Incoming NBAA president Ed Bolen, speaking after Stone, said access is the defined business aviation issue of the moment in terms of both airspace and airport freedom. While stopping short of suggesting a target date for when business aviation might be able to return to Washington Reagan National Airport—the poster child for security lockouts—Stone's TSAAC endorsement started the convention on a positive note. Stone: "We're looking forward to moving the ball down the court."
