CMC Touts New President, New Products

Quebec-based CMC Electronics (Booth 12228) comes to this year's show with new products and a newer leader. Taking over the president and CEO position last month was Jean-Pierre Mortreux, the former president and CEO of Thales Avionics North America and Thales Avionics Canada.

The Mortreux era is coming in on a high note with new business in all four of the company's specialties: satellite communication (satcom) systems, enhanced vision systems (EVS), flight management systems and electronic flight bags. In the satcom area, CMC received orders for 100 more of its CMA-2200 satcom antenna systems from Honeywell for its Aero-I product. The CMA-2200 is an intermediate gain, electronically steerable phases array antenna that fully supports Inmarsat Aero-I satcom services. Honeywell has been offering the CMA-2200 to customers since 1997.

CMC's EVS business got a boost this week when Rockwell Collins selected the company's SureSight I-series EVS infrared sensor for Dassault business jets. The equipment will be integrated with the Rockwell Collins Flight Dynamics' HGS-4860/5860 Head-Up Guidance System and offered to all future Dassault Falcon 2000EX, 900EX, 900DX and 7X operators. Rockwell Collins also this week picked SureSight as an option for all current and future Boeing Business Jets, as well as all Boeing 737NG models.

In other areas, Pilatus has chosen CMC to supply its industry standard CMA-9000 FMS for the PC-21, and the Mid-Canada Mod Center has just purchased the company's second-generation electronic flight bag, called PilotView, for installation on a Falcon 50.
