Shell Aviation and its exclusive U.S. distributor, Eastern Aviation Fuels, will soon offer a contract fuel program in the U.S. The Web-based system, currently in beta testing and set to go live early next year, will allow participating Shell Aviation customers to purchase fuel at competitive prices across the Shell FBO network, and should make it easier for pilots and operators to purchase and monitor fuel stops. In addition to automated billing, the Shell Aviation Contract Fuel Program will keep track of prices in an Internet-accessible database so that operators can shop online to plan fuel stops before takeoff. Having customer details in the online database will also eliminate the need for pilots to carry and keep track of paperwork after fueling. FBOs will get a break by not having to maintain program participation lists or station cards.
