Operators Sans Security Plans: 'Their Operators Are Clueless'
'Some operators," says Issy Boim of Air Security International, "tell us that they travel overseas to a remote location and that the arrangements recommended to them are just fine.
"These operators do not have a manual. They do not have any security measures to follow. They are clueless."
Boim, in a talk here yesterday, described "the different world in which we now live," referring of course to September 11, but also to subsequent threats related to wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, "ongoing kidnapping and murders," the threat from handheld surface-to-air-missiles, recent bombings of Russian airlines, and even the string of four hurricanes in the Caribbean and East Coast. All this, Boim says, "indicates that even low-threat locations have become security concerns."
"The risks associated with traveling can shift from day to day, not only because of terrorism, but also because of politics, weather, civil unrest and culture.
"We encourage these operators who don't have a security program to get with it."
