Honeywell (Booth 4201) is working on a new low-cost cabin pressure control system for next-generation business jets that features all-electric architecture instead of electro-pneumatic operation. "It integrates really well with avionics and will enable us to offer an air management system at a lower price threshold than has been possible before," said Russ Turner, president of Honeywell Engines, Systems and Services. "We have done all the electronics and software, and demonstrated the control laws last year. Now we're in the process of talking to OEM customers about where the first launch opportunity will be."
Honeywell's Hardware Products Group has launched a websitewww.hpgparts.comthat lets maintenance shops locate and order hard-to-find hardware such as small fasteners. It offers alternative part numbers, competitive pricing and immediate availability, according to Russ Turner, president of Honeywell Engines, Systems and Services. "It gives access to the kind of service you really normally have to be a big operator in order to get," he told ShowNews. HPG also offers OEMs onsite logistics management of small parts and fasteners. "For example, we put our own site in Gulfstream's facility; we enable them to pick parts out of our system and we keep it continuously supplied," he said. "HPG is growing that business very nicely and it's a good support to the business aviation market."
Honeywell is announcing here three new certifications for its N1 DEEC upgrade to the TFE731, completing its coverage of the entire commercial fleet of 9,000 TFE engines. The N1 DEEC is a set-and-forget, digital electronic engine control that is a virtual plug-and-play change for the aircraft's existing analog electrical controls. The modification reduces pilot workload with improved power management and engine temperature limiting, reduces fuel use by eliminating control trimming and high power runs, and adds diagnostic capabilities that significantly reduce troubleshooting labor costs. The latest certifications cover the Learjet 55, Sabreliner 65 and JetStar.
