L-3 LandMark TAWS Adds FreeFlight's GPS/WAAS Sensor

A FreeFlight Systems' 1201 Global Positioning System/Wide Area Augmentation System (GPS/WAAS) sensor has added new talents to L-3 Communications' LandMark Terrain Awareness and Warning System (TAWS). The GPS/WAAS sensor will provide users with precision lateral and vertical guidance to thousands of airports and airstrips where there is currently no precision landing capability.

Designed for the business jet and turbine-powered aircraft markets, the LandMark Class B TAWS system gives pilots an accurate lay of the land with crisp imaging, distinct runway and obstacle depictions, and enhanced alerting capabilities. The new combo improves upon earlier ground prox technologies with features such as look-ahead capabilities, longer warning times, landing configuration operability, and greater situational awareness via an optional terrain display. And with four times the resolution of other Class B TAWS on a wider range of display options—MFD, radar, and EFIS—the LandMark system offers pilots another accurate and affordable solution for meeting the FAA mandate for turbine-powered aircraft.

FreeFlight Systems is at Booth 8221 and L-3 Communications is at Booth 5830.
