Germany"s Atlas Air Service has ordered three of Cessna"s newly announced Citation CJ2+s, for delivery in late 2006 and early 2007. Based in Ganderkesee, Atlas has been Cessna"s Citation Authorized Sales Representative for Germany since 1996, and is the first to place a fleet order for the new jet.
"I have sold 16 CJ2s to German customers and every operator is impressed by the CJ2"s great performance, low operational cost and reliability," said Michael Laux, Atlas" managing director. "Most of the CJ2 operators come from heavy turboprops and they are surprised they can operate their CJ2 less expensively. Plus, they can cruise approximately 100 kts faster, fly 20,000 feet higher, and have less workload in the cockpit."
Germany is Cessna"s largest European market for jets, with 120 Citations based there. Of these, the most popular models are the CitationJet, CJ1 and CJ2. Germany hosts more CJs than any country outside the U.S. " The attraction of the CJ2+ for German operators is the cabin, runway performance, range, and speed benefits. It also meets steep approach requirements for London City airport," said Trevor Esling, Cessna"s director of International European Citation Sales.
Cessna will host a special contract signing ceremony with Atlas Air Service Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at Booth 6000.
