McGraw-Hill journalists swept the Aerospace Journalist of the Year Awards on Monday night with seven of the 15 awards. Craig Covault of Aviation Week won the Decade of Excellence Award, for which he was nominated by fellow journalists. And Fred George (a writer here on the Aviation Week ShowNews team) accepted both the Best Avionics Submission for his article "Dassault Falcon Jet's EASy Cockpit." about the new software used in the Falcon Jet, and "Your First Atlantic Crossing," about safety issues concerning business aircraft making transatlantic flights, which appeared in Business & Commercial Aviation magazine. For his work with Michael Dornheim on the DHL flight that made an emergency landing in Baghdad after being struck by a missile and losing all hydraulic pressure, ShowNews journalist David Hughes accepted the Best Breaking News Award. John Morris and the ShowNews team received the Best Air Show Submission award for their report on the sudden cancellation of the Comanche program, which was published during the Singapore 2004 Air Show.
