Sukhoi Unveils Prices, Waits for Next Customer

At Farnborough, Sukhoi Civil Aircraft for the first time unveiled catalogue prices for its civil Russian Regional Jets. This long-awaited data was crucial for industry analysts, as well as for Sukhoi's rival—the Ukrainian 80-seat Antonov An-148 program. Both regional efforts are targeted to meet ex-Soviet countries' demand for regional fleet modernization. Nowadays Russian and Commonwealth of Independent States carriers operate on regional routes of obsolete Tupolev Tu-134s and Yakovlev Yak-130 jets.

But if an $18.5 million price tag for the Antonov An-148 was declared months ago, Sukhoi did not publish the pricelist. Now it is finally clear that the RRJ will be more expensive than its Ukrainian competitor. According to Sukhoi's salesmen, the basic 95-seat RRJ 95B (which was sold on Monday to Siberia Airlines) is marketed at $26.2 million, while its long-range derivative RRJ 75LR costs $27.5 million.

At the same time, one more major Russian airline, UTair is expected to place an order for a few RRJ 75Bs. The catalogue price for this 75-seater is $23.8 million, while the long-range version, RRJ 75LR, will be offered at $24.8 million.

The price for the 60-seat RRJ 60 is still to be adjusted. Reportedly, no possible customers have started negations on this aircraft to date.
