First-Ever Middle East Aviation Pavilion Graces Farnborough
The Middle East's burgeoning aviation industry has given a huge boost to shows like Farnborough, which have been selected as the launchpad for major orders and new business-with Dubai's Emirates Airlines often at the forefront. In recognition of the vital role that the whole region plays in powering the international aviation scene, the first-ever pavilion dedicated to Middle Eastern aviation at any international air show has been established here at Farnborough 2004. The show is being honored by no fewer than three VIPs from Saudi Arabia, Jordan and the UAE who have come to open the pavilion.
His Royal Highness Prince Turki Al Faisal (Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to the UK), His Royal Highness Prince Feisal bin Al-Hussein (Chief of Staff of the Royal Jordan Air Force) and His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al-Maktoum (president, Department of Civil Aviation, Government of Dubai and Chairman of the Emirates Group) attended the opening ceremony organized by Fairs & Exhibitions (F&E), itself the organizer of the Dubai Air Show. The pavilion houses exhibitors from Lebanon, Dubai and Saudi Arabia. Fairs & Exhibitions Chairman Virginia Kern said she hoped the pavilion would triple in size for its next appearance, at Paris 2005.
In an associated announcement, F&E is considering adding a training and simulation pavilion to the 2005 Dubai Air Show. There is a huge requirement for commercial and military training assets across the Middle East, and F&E hopes to tap into some of that demand for next year.
