Elbit Aims at Doubling Sales in Europe
"Farnborough provides us with an excellent opportunity to highlight our group's synergy and strategy toward Europe," Joseph Ackerman, Elbit Systems president and CEO told ShowNews. "We expect a major growth in our European sales as we continue to develop our marketing and cooperation on the continentElbit has subsidiaries in the UK, Belgium, Austria and Romania, and we also have many cooperations and joint ventures with leading companies in the region. In the future, we expect our European activities to almost double and amount up to 28% of our total sales, up from the current 15%. We believe that Europe is important for Elbit, and Elbit is important for Europe." Elbit's involvement in European programs is evident in programs such as the Watchkeeper, where the company is cooperating with Thales. "We are offering operationally proven, leading-edge platforms that have accumulated many operational hours," said Ackerman.
Another innovation unveiled here is a vision of the future cockpit: Elbit is showing here a view of an integrated helicopter cockpit, utilizing current and future systems, including helmet-mounted displays, large color displays and HUDs, 3-D voice cueing and activation, and advanced man-machine integration, which reduces excessive workload on the pilot during stressful operating conditions.
Elbit has also embarked on a new initiative to develop advanced avionics for commercial aviation. "We started with the Enhanced Vision System [EVS], which enables landing under difficult visibility conditions." The EVS was recently selected by Federal Express to equip its fleet and improve its access to airfields under all weather conditions. Under cooperation with Honeywell, Elbit is offering a new Head-Up Display tailored for commercial aircraft, primarily cargo planes. Other entries into its avionics field include altimeters, flight displays, etc. These systems are aimed at original equipment manufacturers for new production and aftermarket sales.
Elbit Systems is here at the show in Hall 1, Stand C18 & D16.
