EC 225 Joins the Super Puma Family
Following its maiden flight on June 24, the first production Eurocopter EC 225 is being prepared for delivery to Bristow Helicopters of the UK, which already has 38 earlier members of the Super Puma family in service. Bristow's first two EC 225s will include the 600th Super Puma or military Cougar to roll off the Marignane production line, the current fleet of 543 having accumulated 2.6 million hours with 96 customers. Improvements incorporated in the EC 225 and military EC 725 include a five-blade rotor, reinforced main gearbox, uprated Makila 2A engines and a workload-reducing cockpit.
