Elbit System's U.S. subsidiary (Hall 1, Stand C18) has teamed with Honeywell Air Transport Systems (Hall 1, Stand A8) to supply head-up displays (HUD) to the commercial air transport market. Honeywell elected El-Op's overhead LCD projection technology, so far utilized only in the military applications, for its advanced HUD, currently in development for FedEx. The HUD will combine an Enhanced Vision System view with flight symbols and information conformal with the real-world scene in the pilot's forward field of view during all phases of flight. First certifications of the system on the Boeing MD-10 are expected by late 2006, following by certifications for the MD-11 and Airbus A300.
