More Than my Job's Worth, Sir

Getting the right level of security is always a compromise, as the editor of one of the UK's longest-established aviation magazines discovered yesterday when the ever-vigilant searchers at the gate found a MultiTool (folding pliers with built-in screwdriver, mini-scissors) in the boot of this car. This was declared to be a prohibited article, representing a threat to security. Eventually, however, the unfortunate visitor was allowed to proceed into the Show, his tool kit intact...and in the driving seat of one of those four-wheeled things which kill 3,500 people on Britain's roads every year.
