IAE announced on Tuesday that already in the first half of 2004, it has pulled in over $1 billion in orders supplying over 80 aircraft with the V2500 engine. This achievement includes business from jetBlue, America West and Spirit Airlines, as well as aircraft being leased to Air Deccan, America West, British Mediterranean, Tiger Airways and Wizz Air. Supplying the 150-seat airliner market segment, the V2500 is already in use in over 1,000 aircraft including the A319, A319 Corporate Jet, A320 and A321 family. For the different aircraft which the engine is available, there are seven different thrust settings.
Contributing to the above announcement was jetBlue's agreement with IAE to exercise V2500 engine options for the 30 Airbus A320s it ordered on June 17, an agreement worth more than $400 million. Currently operating a fleet of 62 A320s, all powered with the V2500, jetBlue has another 121 of the aircraft on order, all with firm contracts for V2500 engines. Including 10 leased aircraft, jetBlue's A320 fleet could be 233 strong by 2012.
