Just Another EASA Brief
On a similar note, the EASA passed the TBM 700 design evolution plan enabling the family of turboprop engines to qualify for the RVSM requirements worldwide up to their maximum certified altitude of 31,000 feet. The idea behind RVSM is to move from a vertical spacing of 2,000 feet to 1,000 feet between air traffic flying in the altitude range of 29,000 feet to 41,000 feet above sea level. This new system also comes with the requirement that all aircraft flying in that altitude range must be able to control their aircraft accurately enough that they may travel with in that spectrum. RVSM is already in use over Northern Canada, Europe, Australia, the North Atlantic and the Pacific Ocean, and will be in effect over the rest of Canada and the United States on Jan. 20, 2005.
