Marconi Selenia Wins US$89 Mil. in AWACS Contracts
Upgrades of communications equipment for the NATO AWACS program
are under way as US$89 worth of contracts were reported by Marconi
Selenia for the replacement of IFF systems, VHF radio systems and
UHF satellite links on board all 19 of NATO's AWACS fleet. This
upgrade is expected to be followed by replacement of UHF communications,
for which a Request For Information is expected soon. Marconi Selenia
has already won two additional HF communications programs with the
Australian Wedgetail and Turkish Peace Eagle AEW programs.
