Smiths Aiding the Mating Ritual

Smiths has wrapped up another set of flight trials for the stabilizing technology it is applying to aerial hose-and-drogue refueling operations. The testing took place at the University of Michigan's low turbulence wind tunnel. The stabilizing technology is supposed to minimize motion of the refueling basket. Boeing plans to apply the technology to its KC-767 tankers, but Smiths also expects the technology to ease refueling of unmanned combat aircraft, something the U.S. military has expressed interest in. Existing tankers may also be upgraded.
