UK and Malaysia Extend Hawk Pylon Purchase
Following recent sales of BAE Systems' Hawk jet trainers, the UK company signed a follow-on contract with SME Aerospace at the show on Tuesday for a further 120 units to be delivered before the end of 2007. Almost every Hawk sold since 1987 has pylons built by SME in Malaysia as part of the offsets agreement associated with that country's purchase of Hawks. The signing took place on the Malaysian exhibit (Hall 2/C3), where Malaysia is promoting its LIMA '05 air show, a biennial event traditionally well supported by BAE Systems.
