L-3 to Protect India Head of State Against MANPADS
L-3 Communications of Greenville, Texas, will provide infrared countermeasures systems for three Boeing 737s for the head of state in India to protect against man-portable air defense systems (MANPADS). The Pentagon has notified Congress of this foreign military sale. The $40 million contract includes the installation on each aircraft of an AN/AAQ-24 large aircraft infrared countermeasures system, an AN/ALE-47H countermeasure dispensing system, an AAN/ALQ-211 early warning suite controller and radar warning unit. There are no offset agreements under this contract. The contract also includes support equipment and the services of technical and logistics personnel.
