Taking the 'Fun' Out of Your Flying?

Light aircraft pilots may or may not welcome the latest Far Eastern initiative to take the 'ding' out of their landings. The Japanese aerospace exhibit (Hall 2, Stand C4) includes details and a photograph of the Fabot (Fuji Aerial roBOT) system which has employed a Diamond DV20 Katana two-seater as a manned, flying testbed for what is said to be the first Japanese demonstration of autonomous take-off and landing for light aircraft. The installation includes a low cost/high accuracy navigation system and one of the world's smallest airborne installations of remote technology.
