It's a Wrap for Terrorists

The latest tool in the war against suicide car bombers could be 13-kilo portable spiked net, according to QinetiQ (Hall 1, Stand A19 and Chalet L1), whose Ex-Net has been used successfully by the U.S. Military in Haiti and is now being prepared for use in Iraq.

Carried in a backpack, Ex-Net can bring road vehicles to a complete and safe standstill within 75 meters. Laid out on the road in the path of a suspect vehicle, it wraps around its wheels and axles thwarting any attempt to drive forward or backward, and punctures its tires, too. It's made of Dyneema, a polyethylene eight times stronger than steel, and could provide military and civilian police with a valuable lifesaver, says QinetiQ.
