Pratt & Whitney will have no worries if asked to deliver extra thrust for the Joint Strike Fighter's F135 alternate engine to aid Lockheed Martin with overweight issues on the vertical takeoff F-35B version. "It's a 40,000-pound engine, so a, say, 1,500-pound increase is doable," P&W President Louis Chenevert told ShowNews. There is plenty of time available if the Joint Project Office formally poses the question, he says, and "we would be delighted to deliver the additional thrust."
