A model of Airbus Military SL's A400M heavylift transport on the Tusas Aerospace Industries Inc (TIA) exhibit (Hall 1, Stand B16) is a reminder of Turkey's membership and 7.15% work-share in this major military multinational project. This will include procurement of 10 A400Ms for the Turkish air force (THK), and long-term TAI participation in the design, development, production and after-sales support phases.
TAI's structural work package includes forward- and center-fuselage sections, ailerons and spoilers, paradropping doors and other hatches, and tailcone. A system work package, comprising 1.26% of TAI's total, comprises lighting and water/waste units. At the peak period of design activities this year, 140 TAI engineers in three main groups will be involved in A400M unit programs.
As an AMSL A400M partner, TAI will not only own design rights, but also gain JAR-21 Part JA and JAR-25 Design Organization approvals. This will give TAI control over all the processes involved, including design, test, certification, and delivery.
