Airbus A400M Loads Up Thales/Diehl Avionics

A three-way signing ceremony at the show yesterday put Thales and Diehl Avionik Systeme aboard the Airbus A400M military airlifter program with a range of avionics already installed in the A380 airliner. The agreements, eventually to be worth 30 million euros, were confirmed by Noel Forgeard, CEO of Airbus, and President Thomas Diehl, and Denis Ranque, Thales Chairman and CEO. Looking on was Francisco Fernandez Sainz, CEO of Airbus' Military Transport Aircraft division, which will build the next-generation aircraft in Spain. Thales is working with Diehl on the A400M's Integrated Modular Avionics modules, hosting numerous avionics functions; the cockpit control and display system with nine 6-by-6-inch screens; and the digital head-up display, incorporating enhanced vision systems.
