EADS Readies New Target Systems For Missile Shooters

The Defence and Communications Systems (DCS) arm of EADS has  competed qualifications trials of its new Do-DT25 and Do-DT35 jet-powered target drones. Clearance came this month, after a firing campaign at the NATO Missile Firing Installation Range on Crete. The Do-DT35 is a maneuverable twin-engined target vehicle that can fly at speeds of up to 360 kts at low level. Unlike  other comparable, air defense operators engage the drone directly, rather than shooting at a towed target. Its Do-DT25 sister ship is capable of carrying an Anti-Radiation Missile Simulator sub-target. In German service the two drones will be used to train Patriot, Roland and Stinger SAM operators.
