Boeing Hopes for More Orders

Boeing hopes to announce this week commitments for up to 80 7E7 Dreamliners by airlines in China, informed sources told Show News.

Seven airlines recently attended a 7E7 symposium in China and expressed their intent to order the aircraft.

Chinese airlines cannot order airplanes directly from the manufacturer, but have to go through a government authorization procedure. Only after official approval can the orders be regarded as firm. In the interim the sales can be covered by either an MoU or Letter of Intent, both popular business tools in China that often mark not a done deal but the beginning of negotiations by the Chinese that may or may not result in a successful conclusion.

Boeing now has orders for 52 7E7s—50 from a non-competed deal with ANA of Japan in which Airbus was not even considered, and two from Air New Zealand. Boeing is here at the show in Hall 3, Stand A1 and Chalet B1-6.
