Honeywell Aircraft Landing Systems and Cryotech Deicing Technology
have jointly announced at the show a new runway chemical deicer
that is not so corrosive to aircraft brakes by. The new product,
BX36, was designed to reduce the catalytic oxidation effects from
runway liquid deicers on all carbon brakes and is in response
to an FAA Airworthiness Directive issued last year to alert the
industry to possible dangers. Following laboratory trials, BX36
was tested in the field at Anchorage, Alaska, last winter.
