Boeing's IDS Will Outsell Boeing Commercial in 2003

Boeing's Integrated Defense & Space (IDS) sector will outsell Boeing Commercial Airplanes in 2003, according to current projections, IDS CEO Jim Albaugh said here Monday. IDS sales of $27 billion will be 54 % of total company earnings-due both to IDS growth and the crisis in commercial aviation. That relationship is not likely to change: while the commercial division expects steady single-digit traffic growth, Albaugh says that "if we execute on the programs we have won, we can continue to grow at a compound rate of 10 % a year." Albaugh also disclosed that Boeing will have $3.2 billion in intelligence business in 2003, a sector where the company was almost entirely unrepresented a few years ago.
