Alenia Debuts UAV/UCAV Demonstrator

Italy's Alenia Aeronautica is showing for the first time in public a UAV/UCAV technology demonstrator that it says "is capable of exploiting the most advanced technologies for surveillance and defense."

The stealthy 'flying platform' is six meters long and spans 5.74 meters. It modular construction enables it easily to be reconfigured for a variety of purposes. With a maximum payload of 300 kilos and a maximum takeoff weight of 1,000 kilos it has an estimated maximum speed of Mach 0.74, cruise speed of Mach 0.60 and can operate up to an altitude of 10,000 meters.

The Alenia UAV/UCAV is on parent company Finmeccanica's stand, Hall 2, E20.
