Volvo Aero Military Programs and General Electric have agreed
to extend their cooperation to the development and production
of the F414M engine selected by EADS for the new Mako trainer.
The original agreement covered engines supplied for F/A-18E/F
Super Hornet fighters. The companies are also sharing work on
the Volvo Aero RM12 engine, which is based on the GE 404 that
powers the Saab Gripen fighter. According to the current agreement,
Volvo will get 30% of the total F414M engine value.
