Pilots won't want to start the engines on an Airbus A380 without
first using the dual Eaton electrically driven auxiliary hydraulic
pumps. They generate the 5,000 psi needed to set the parking brakes.
Eaton's patented design unit features a three-phase, brushless
17.5 kW motor. The pump's variable displacement functionality
enables the system to have soft starts that prevent current draw
from exceeding 200 amps and provides it with a constant horsepower
draw.
