USAF To Deploy Motorola's New Security Radars

The USAF plans to deploy a new Perimeter Surveillance Radar System (PSRS), developed by Motorola Israel, as part of its homeland security program. The radars recently completed acceptance tests in the USA. A typical employment of such a system is protecting aircraft parking in remote, unsecured landing zones. PSRS detects, alerts and tracks automatically any attempt to compromise the perimeter it secures. The radar detects walking or crawling persons, as well as vehicular movement within a distance of 350 meters. The system comprises two units: an 18 kg sensor and a 15 kg battery unit, and can be set-up in 20 minutes. It operates under all weather conditions and can be linked to external sensors and security elements to form an integrated perimeter defense.
