Elbit's Advanced Multi-Sensor Payload Provides Essential Tool in Counter-Terror
Operations
Fitted with Elbit System's AMPS-advanced multi-sensor payload-Israel
Air Force Beech King Air 200s are operating in support of daily
counter-terrorist operations, providing closed-loop intelligence
and targeting support for ground units and special operations
troops.
The system utilizes a 250 mm FLIR, telescopic TV camera with 1,300
mm focal length lens and an intensified CCD (ICCD) to facilitate
detection and tracking of targets in transitional conditions (sunset
and dawn) as well as spotting weak light sources at night. By
looking at a single target with two sensors at two wavebands simultaneously,
interpreters can gather more information.
AMPS can support various intelligence tasks, including long-range
target intelligence gathering, and real-time inflight processing
by airborne interpreters followed by analysis and transmission
of near-real-time processed and analyzed imagery to command posts
or tactical ground units. The system is operated onboard by the
autonomous multimission system, which links real-time imagery
with intelligence information and operational data to facilitate
rapid processing of a sensor-to-shooter cycle.
