Alitalia and Lufthansa Establish Joint Maintenance Partnership
Closely following its opening of a narrowbody airliner maintenance
hangar at Naples on March 17, the Alitalia Engineering & Maintenance
Division is poised for further development when a joint engine
overhaul venture with Lufthansa is launched at Rome/Fiumicino
airport on July 1. As yet unnamed, the new company will be headed
by Renzo Lunardi, who simultaneously succeeds Ugo Cucciniello
as managing director of Alitalia E&M. Work will be divided
between the existing engine workshop in Rome and the Lufthansa
Technik base at Hamburg.
