Elbit Systems' Silver Arrow UAV subsidiary is demonstrating
at the show a new, twin-payload version of the Hermes-450, designated
Hermes-450LE. It is equipped with an aft-mounted payload bay designed
to accommodate a synthetic aperture radar and the new Compass
IV payload, which can be equipped with third-generation focal-plane
array detector, color CCD/TV camera and laser designator and rangefinder.
The 450LE configuration has also added two fins that enhance stability
in high crosswinds. With two 25-liter external fuel tanks the
new model's endurance is increased by 50% over that of the Hermes-450,
to 30 hours, while 50-liter tanks can more than double the original
endurance. New wing hardpoints on the 450LE are designed for the
fixed stores- payloads and external fuel, but have potential to
use weapons as well.
