Elbit Systems has unveiled a new class of mini-UAVs that are designed
to meet specific operational requirements, for very close range,
'over the hill' intelligence gathering missions.
Skylark is a man-portable system is designed for tactical close-range
surveillance and reconnaissance missions and short-range artillery
direction, as well as perimeter security, border and coastal surveillance,
anti-terrorism surveillance and law enforcement. It weighs just
5.5 kg and is powered by an electric motor. It can carry a CCDTV
camera or a miniature FLIR.
Seagull is a foldable, canister-deployable ultra-quiet UAV, also
electrically powered. It is designed for launch by hand or from
a rail, and can be deployed from manned and unmanned platforms.
The 0.8-meter-long UAV has a span of 2.2 meters, weighs 5.5 kg
on takeoff, and can operate autonomously for six hours over a
radius of 5-10 kilometers, flying at a speed of 2040 kts.
