With more than 700 of its C-212, CN-235 and C-295 twin-turboprop
transports serving over 100 operators worldwide, EADS Military
Transport Aircraft Division claims top spot in the light- and
medium-sized military transporter market.
Displayed statically at Le Bourget in its Persuader military patrol
aircraft guise, the EADS CASA C-295 has garnered orders from the
air forces of Spain (launch customer with nine), Poland (eight),
Jordan (two), Brazil (12) and the United Arab Emirates, which
has ordered two ASW-configured aircraft for its maritime patrol
program.
The EADS CASA CN-235 is the aircraft selected for the winning
Integrated Coast Guard Systems (ICGS) offer to the U.S. Coast
Guard. The CN-235 covers the fixed-wing element of the Deepwater
program, integrated through a C4ISR network with USCG ships, helicopters
and shore bases. The initial $130 million contract with ICGS calls
for delivery of two CN-235 MPA maritime patrol aircraft.
The Colombian navy has acquired two CN-235-200s for patrol missions
in its exclusive economic zone and for anti-drug trafficking operations.
