Makes More Connections as the World Shrinks in Size
Connexion by Boeing, a business unit of The Boeing Company, has
signed a contract with satellite operator Eutelsat for satellite
transponder capacity for its mobile broadband information services.
Coverage will be of Europe and Asia, providing further momentum
for airlines and passengers requiring real-time email, Internet,
company intranet, and entertainment. Following-on from its three-month
demonstration of North Atlantic and European satellite communications
in conjunction with British Airways and Lufthansa, Connexion by
Boeing will lease capacity on Eutelsat's SESAT, covering the eastern
Atlantic, Europe and as far east as Central Asia. It will begin
installing the service aboard commercial airliners early next
year.
