With braking systems for more than 200 types of aircraft under
its belt, Goodrich can now add another. The company will supply
the wheels and carbon brakes for the new Cessna business jet announced
this week in Orlando.
"With a proven service record not only on the 560XL, but on the entire
family of Cessna Citation jets, we're proud to again be chosen by
Cessna to provide our quality wheels and brakes for the (aircraft),"
said Tim Dumbauld, vp Goodrich Regional, Business & Military
business for aircraft wheels and brakes, who added that Cessna "named
Goodrich a 'growth supplier' and with this latest award we continue
our drive to enhance our product features and benefits."
Goodrich reports that Cessna plans to introduce three new business
jets over the next two years, including the one this week, and
all will employ the company's wheel and brake technology. Dumbauld
adds that Bombardier has a new airplane that will be ready for
launch soon, and Goodrich will supply wheels and brakes for that
program, too.
Advances in wheel and brake technology developed by Goodrich in
recent years include brake control systems and electric braking.
"We have created a completely in-house, integrated and tested
brake control system, allowing us to provide our customers with
a complete braking system solution," stated Dumbauld. "We
also continue to pursue our electric braking system, which will
offer many advantages to aircraft operators. This new system will
reduce costs through lower original equipment installation costs,
improved braking system redundancy, and decreased aircraft parts
count."
In other Goodrich news this week, the company has added a wet
wipe application used to prime the propeller surface for its FASTprop
propeller de-icing technology. The FASTprop de-icer is now kitted
to include a pre-measured primer packaged with each de-icer. The
addition of the wet wipe primer to the FASTprop pre-applied adhesive
system also minimizes solvent usage and helps to reduce the possibility
of contaminants in the bond line.
